Photos of Tacloban City after the Typhoon Yolanda

Bunch of people working with me at the Samer Island Natural Park went to see the situation in Tacloban two days after the typhoon to help the Regional Office.  Tacloban is about 80km south of Paranas.  Dept of Env and Nat Res Regional Office is located.  I go to the Regional Office about three time a month for meetings and budget requests before the typhoon. But I haven't been there since.  The main floor of the Regional Office was under the water and lost all documents and data files from the main floor offices including financial documents.  I couldn't recieve my budget till January. The city needs many more months to get back for the normal business. These are some photos.

The  air was filled with smell of dead bodies. Bodies were covered with sheets and lying along the road side. Over 7 thousand people died in the greater Tacloban area.

Downtown area is zero meter above see level and water came up to the second floor.

Folks from the park's office. They were in Tacloban for 6 days and only received one bottle of water dureing the stay.  Where were the supplies.  Philippino Government said it was a responsibility of the city.  Well, you can see there was no city here.
No emergency preparedness!

Road to the airport. This was a housing area but mothing left standing.

The airport building where I land a month before the typhoon.

Three days after the typhoon the airport was cleared and already open for military aircrafts.  The supplies are arriving to the city but not to the people who need most.

These photos below are 4 days before the typhoon in the downtown area.
